Paul Lewin was born in Manchester in 1967. He studied at Stockport College and went on to complete a BA (hons) degree in Fine Art at Bristol Polytechnic in 1989.
Predominantly a painter of the coast and sea, Paul Lewin has emerged as one of the leading contemporary landscape painters in the southwest. With over 35 solo exhibitions, and many more mixed shows over the past 15 years - including The Upstairs Gallery, Nantucket Island, Boston, USA and Webbs Road Fine Art, London - his name is well known throughout the West Country and the UK.
He resides in West Penwith, the westernmost tip of Cornwall. A fluent "en plein air" painter, his work has developed in response to the characteristic coastal fringes of the Cornish peninsular. In exploring its rugged coastlines and wild interiors of moorland and valleys, the resulting works evoke a strong sense of atmosphere, through a sensitivity to the changing light and weather conditions.
